The full exposure history
Work, commute, home, kitchen, products, hours, caregiving load, and what changed in the twelve months before the symptoms began. Reproductive history in full, not as a footnote.
Individuals
Employee, wife, mother, daughter, caregiver — often on the same day. Her body is not handling one exposure. It is handling a stack.
The picture
Most women's health content clusters around a short list — PCOS, thyroid, fertility, menopause, weight. Those are real, and we will talk about all of them. But they are usually where the conversation starts, and I would rather start one step earlier.
Before the hormones changed, something in the environment changed. The commute got longer. The shift moved. A parent needed care. Sleep became the thing that got sacrificed because it was the only thing that could be. Those are not lifestyle footnotes. They are exposures, and the body responds to them whether or not anyone wrote them down.
So the question I ask is not only what are your hormone levels. It is: what changed around this woman, and when — and does the timing of the symptoms match the timing of the change?
What this looks like
None of these is a diagnosis. Together they are often the shape of a body that has been adapting to something for a long time.
How I work
The same method as every consultation — but the history runs across the whole of a life, not just the presenting complaint.
Work, commute, home, kitchen, products, hours, caregiving load, and what changed in the twelve months before the symptoms began. Reproductive history in full, not as a footnote.
Hormonal, metabolic and nutritional assessment chosen for your history. Where the evidence for a test is weak, I will say so rather than order it anyway.
Including where hormone therapy is and is not supported by evidence for someone in your position, what it can reasonably do, and what it cannot.
Send me a short line about what has been happening and roughly when it began.
